大学在学時に行ったガーナの漁村コクロビテ村にある小学校教室を改装するプロジェクトです。現地で手に入る道具と材料のみを使い、暗く、光が入ってにくい教室を子供たちが気持ち良く勉強できる場所に変化させる環境デザインを行いました。このプロジェクトをきっかけに色彩が持つ力に興味を持つことになります。

Ghana Project
A community project to renovate classrooms of local elementary school in Kokrobite, a small fishing village in Ghana. The Purpose of the project was to bring light and color into otherwise somber rooms and create spaces in which children could enjoy being. Only materials that could be obtained locally were used for the renovation work.
This project led to Rika's interest in the power of color in an environment.

tona is a Tokyo based design studio, founded by Rika Kawato. Taking inspiration from her experience living in different countries and encountering various cultures, she provides designs with carefully thought out tone of color and texture.
